A Changing of the Guard Troop 729 Court of Honor
The New Year heralded a change of leadership for Boy Scout Troop 729 in Northfield. As Boy Scouts Matthew Seaberg, Thomas Morgan, and Liam Hilferty were awarded the hard-earned rank of Star Scout and became Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Patrol Leader respectively; their Scoutmaster, Richard Matheson, passed the leadership baton to Larry Seaberg, also an Eagle Scout and military veteran. It was an event filled night with were Jeremy Habel, Shea Lagerstedt, Matthew Hagenlocher also moving up a rank. Richard Matheson, left, son of Arlene and Richard Matheson of Northfield, has served as Scoutmaster since the Troop was founded. Richard has brought his love for scouting, his experience earning the rank of Eagle Scout, and his enjoyment of computer games to form a strong rapport with the boys. Larry Seaberg, right, also a founding member of Troop 729, has been active in the Troop as Assistant Scoutmaster to Richard. As Richard joins the Troop 729 Committee and Larry becomes Scoutmaster, the Troop welcomes Chris Lagerstedt as an Assistant Scoutmaster, joining Jeffrey Morgan in that role.
